The municipal council for children and young people
The CMEJ is modeled on the adult municipal council, with the difference that there is no "child" mayor: 33 children are elected by their peers. Elections take place every two years in each school with children in CM2 and CM1.
Since Tuesday, November 14, the new members of the CMEJ have taken up their duties.
The children meet every two weeks and are divided into two committees: social action/events and environment, supervised by a facilitator. Throughout the year, the young elected officials work on various projects to be carried out in the town. They are also present at commemorations or key events organized by the town.
Their term lasts two years. At the end of this term, CM1 and CM2 teachers from the Jules Ferry, Jean Jaurès, Célestin Freinet, and Sainte Marie schools are mobilized alongside the education department to begin the pre-election period: information, candidacies, and campaigning.
The current council, composed of 33 elected members, was elected in the fall of 2025. Their term will end in the fall of 2027. For two years, they participate in various commemorations, official visits, inaugurations and festivities organized by the City, in parallel with their various projects.
